Intuition & Logic provided channel analysis and design services for Beal Slough channel stabilization and restoration along 3,500 feet of deeply incised, urban stream located on park property in the city of Lincoln, Nebraska. Channel erosion threatened the Nebraska State Highway 2 Bridge, a Burlington Northern Railroad bridge, a Lincoln Electric System Company high-tension power distribution tower, two pedestrian trail bridges over the channel and the pedestrian/ bicycling trail in several locations. The final design included channel relocation, channel reconfiguration, grade controls, bio-engineered bank stabilization and 1,800 square feet of heavy block retaining wall to protect a pedestrian trail bridge.
